Thank you for joining us in the celebration of authors in the building. The children work so hard all year on their pieces and love the opportunity to look at the displays. Hopefully, your child was able to give you some suggestions to improve your writing during our quick write time.
We were the winners of the typing pizza party. Thanks to the technology department we will have a pizza lunch with a juice box on Tuesday, May 15th.
Our Just Write Celebrations begin next week. We will be touring the building to look at various writing pieces on Tuesday, May 15th from 2:45-3:30.
We will going to a play at the high school put on by the drama students on Thursday, May 17th. Please try to be on time for school that day because we leave at 9:30.
We will be having a field trip to Pigeon Creek and Tunnel Park on Wednesday, May 23rd for most of the day. Parents may meet us at the park. There will not be any room on the buses so if you are interested in chaperoning you will need to carpool.
Thank you for joining us in our Just Write Celebration! The students are amazing writers and ready for third grade. I was extremely impressed with their confidence when reading in front of such a loved audience. They were so excited to see all of the support! Hopefully, you had a chance to look through the writing folder that came home on Friday to see the growth.
We enjoyed a week of sharing our masterpieces, reading our poems, observing other author’s published pieces and watching a skit performed by the teachers to celebrate Sarah Spears story.

Would would love for you to join us for our Just Write Celebration on Tuesday, May 17th from 9:00-10:00. We will begin in our classroom for a poetry reading and then participate in a writing scavenger hunt around the building. We look forward to showing off our hard work.
We will be combining our Just Write Celebration with our Poetry Academy. The children have each written a poem that they would like to read to you during our celebration. We will briefly discuss and experience Writer’s Workshop followed by the Just Write Scavenger Hunt in the hall. At the end, we will all meet back in the room for a tasty treat! Please join us on Wednesday, May 26th from 2:30-3:30.
Please let us know if you can make it so that we can have enough chairs in the room.
If you haven’t heard, one of the most important all school celebrations is fast approaching. The week of May 24-28 is our opportunity all the writers in our schol
The week is organized into grade level celebrations which include tours of locker stories, tours of posted poster stories displayed throughout the building, and a scavenger hunt. Parents and special guests are invited to attend these events. Our grade level will be celebrating on May 26 at 2:20 time. Please report to our classroom at that time. We will talk through the tour schedule, appropriate behavior and then begin the tour.
In addition to the tours of student writing pieces (displayed on lockers) and specially selected poster stories on display throughout the hallways, the rotunda will also be filled with published classroom anthologies. We will be publishing a class anthology to lulu.com. Once the publication is complete, I will share the link so you can download a free copy or order a professional copy.
We also have a tradition of wearing special designed Just Write T-Shirts on that day. If you would like to purchase one for your child, you can download the order form and send this into the office. Just Write T-Shirt Order Form Orders are accepted now through May 5.
