-3My name is Nathan S. and the book that I read is Puppy Mudge Wants to Play by Cynthia Rylant.  It is a fiction book.  I picked this story because it was not a ready counts book and because I like Henry & Mudge books.  My favorite part was when Mudge sits on Henry’s book.  I enjoyed reading this book because it is in my level and because it has good characters.  You can read it pretty quick and it’s funny.  (1pt)

-1I also read The Story Goes On by Aileen Fisher which is a Nonfiction book.  I picked this book because it is a poetry book.  My favorite part was when the farmer shot the hawk.  I enjoyed this book because the story had good details and the pictures were drawn good.  This book also teaches you about a food chain.  (1pt)

M-2y name is Grant S. and the book that I read is Strange Spirits of St. Ignace by Jonathan Rands and it is a Mystery book.  I picked this book because it looked like a good book and because I was doing this book for reading groups.  My favorite part was when Bobby and Arien were by the tree and a bear came out and almost made Bobby cry.  I enjoyed this book because I like mystery books and because I love Michigan Chillers.  They are cool and also my favorite kind of book.

My name is Haley and the fiction book that I read was The Thanksgiving Day from the Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler.
I chose this book because it is almost Thanksgiving!  My favorite part was when Mrs. Green asked what holiday was coming up and Eric raised his hand and said FOOTBALL!!  I also liked that it talked about giving thanks on Thanksgiving and what  you should be thankful for.

My name is Madelyn V. and the book I chose is Magic School Bus and the Truth about Bats by Jonna Cole and it is Nonfiction. Mrs. McDonald gave it to us and it looked cool. My favorite part was when Pheobe thought the screaming bats were real when they caught her eye. This book is filled with a lot of real information. You can visualize the book very easy. I think Mrs. Frizzle is funny and smart. If you want to read this book it is funny.

My name is Mason B. and I am in Mrs. McDonalds 3rd grade class.  The Nonfiction book that I read was titled Golden Gate Bridge by Julie Murray.  I chose this book because I am interested in bridges.  My favorite parts were all the facts about the bridge.

My name is Brendan H. and the fiction book I read was Stanley, Flat Again by Jeff Brown.  I chose this book because I really like the Flat Stanley books and I already have read a few of the other ones.  My Uncle Todd gave me this one so I thought I would try it.  My favorite part of the book was when Flat Stanley went into the Merker Building to save Emma Weeks.  Emma was stuck under the wreck and the only person that could get in was Flat Stanley.  Emma was not nice to Stanley.  But Stanley was a Hero and got his picture in the newspaper.  I enjoyed reading this book because it is about a boy that is flat and gets to do fun and interesting stuff that regular boys can’t do.  He also always has an adventure and is helping people.

My name is Mason B. and the fiction book I read was Blizzard of the Blue Moon by Mary Pope Osborne.  I really like to read the Magic Tree House series.  I really liked the part when Annie read the duck rhyme and the story also takes place in the Great Depression which I liked.  I really enjoy reading about history and Jack and Annie’s adventures.  All the Magic Tree House books are great!!

Writing and Reading Blog Report

By: Gretchen

In writing we all went to the carpet and talked about watermelons and seed stories with our partner. We zoomed in on small moments in our composition books. We don’t say, “then we got on the bus.” Instead we use “Swish, the doors of the bus opened and we marched up the big stairs.” We talked a little bit about punctuation too.

In reading, we went to the library and checked out books that looked interesting. We had a meeting to help build up our reading stamina and are becoming a reading community. We read a book about a man on a wire. He walked in between the Sears Towers. We learned to share with partners. We also did independent reading.
