Thank you for all of the donations! I think that we are in 2nd place right now. If you haven’t done so already, please consider bringing in non-perishable food items. The competition ends on November 20th.
We will be focusing on short O and long O (o_e and oa) words this week. Based on the pretest, your child has the following words:

rode | cocoa |
road | unspoken |
foam | none* |
one* | devote |

Congratulations on working hard! The following students have passed another level of Xtramath:
The students are being presented with a variety of one-step and two-step word problems. The focus is on all 4 operations. Today we discussed the order of operations. The students now know that multiplication or division is completed first and then addition or subtraction, UNLESS they see parentheses.
Please continue to help your child get faster on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Your support is crucial to your child’s learning!
Jenna and Zach did a great job explaining number puzzles.
We will not have the adaptation/classification test until Friday, November 6th. This will give us time to complete an experiment, finish our riddles and review. After that test, we will switch with Mrs. Flory’s class for geography.
Today the students went to the book fair to make a wish list of books that they were interested in purchasing. If you would like to purchase something from their list, please send in the money plus tax. We will return on Thursday at noon.
Our focus this week will be on short /a/ and long /a/ (spelled a_e and ai). Words that do not follow the pattern have a *. Your child should have brought a word list home. Here are the words that we are working on this week:
Regular List | Challenge List |
space | remain |
faint | daily |
rash | invade |
said* | afraid |
claim | behave |
rail | explain |
want* | said* |
paid | complain |
