Our first science unit will be focusing on light. This unit will last about 2 weeks. Today your child was given flashcards to take home to study that include specific vocabulary words that we will be using during this unit. They will see these words on the assessment.

If your child wants to complete matching activities or quizzes on these words, Please visit this link: Light Notecards.

Fact Fluency

Posted on

Today you received your child’s first addition and subtraction fact fluency assessment. The goal for this time of year was 23. If your child scored less than 23, we will be focusing on basic facts.

I sent home information regarding a math site ( http://xtramath.org/) that offers additional practice of basic math facts. This is a free site that allows your child to progressively practice addition, subtraction and once these are mastered multiplication facts.  It is extremely important that we review these daily and increase accuracy/speed in the process.  I would love it if they could become more rote with basic addition & subtraction facts. It would be GREAT if your child could get on this site for a quick review three times per week. I will be receiving a progress report weekly.

Vote Here!

I am sorry but there was an error with the link. Would you please vote again (by clicking on the picture)?

In the past students wrote in a daily agenda their “I can” statements for each subject. I am looking at ways to conserve paper, utilize technology and increase our learning time. Please vote on the method of communication that you would prefer this year. I will have a daily agenda form that the students will use this week as we adjust to our routine.

Next week, the students will analyze the data, graph and make conclusions. We will then be reporting a “tweet” on our classroom blog or filling out a daily agenda sheet. Please vote before Saturday.

Parents and students may vote by clicking on the minion.
